Hong Kong Theatres Association Limited ("HKTA") was established in 1950 as a representative for Hong Kong cinema operators . In addition to being the main bridge of communication between the government and the cinema industry , it also safeguards the interest of our members .
Main purpose of HKTA:
1. Acting as a representative of the members and the government to discuss copyright, film classification , fire protection , licensing and other matters cinemas
2. Development of the industry code of conduct and maintaining the interest of members
3. Aiding members to better understand the relevant laws
4. Assisting members in sponsor related matters
Hong Kong based movie theatres who feature 35mm film or digital film and have been issued a valid public entertainment license by the licensing authority of HKSAR government, can apply to become a member. At present, all Hong Kong theatres are members.
